Methodology

Pepvettedis only useful if you can trust what a label means. This page explains exactly what we check, what we don't, how fresh the data is, and how we keep commercial relationships from influencing any rating. If we ever state something here that the site doesn't live up to, that's a bug — tell us.

Two different things: “listed” vs. “Verified”

Listedmeans a provider appears in our comparison at all. Our one hard rule for listing is that the provider is a licensed 503A compounding pharmacy, a registered 503B outsourcing facility, or a licensed telehealth platform that fulfills through one. We never list research-chemical or “gray-market” vendors. Listing is notan endorsement, and listed details we haven't independently confirmed are labeled provider-reported.

Pepvetted Verified is a separate, higher bar: a provider whose licensing and accreditation we have independently checked against primary sources. Most providers start out listed and unverified. A provider cannot buy a Verified badge, and paying us for anything else (an affiliate relationship or a Featured placement) never earns one.

What we check to award the Verified badge

• Licensing. Pharmacy or facility license confirmed against the relevant state board of pharmacy or FDA registration (for 503B, the FDA registered-outsourcing-facility list).
• Accreditation.Any claimed accreditation (e.g. PCAB, LegitScript, NABP) checked against the accrediting body's own registry.
• Standing. A check for publicly posted disciplinary actions, FDA warning letters, or Form 483 observations tied to the named entity.
• Identity. That the consumer-facing brand maps to a real legal entity and, where applicable, to the pharmacy that actually dispenses.

Program status: the Verified standard and criteria above are published and in force; we are working through the listed providers and only badge a provider once every criterion is met and sourced. An unbadged provider has simply not cleared that bar yet — it is not a negative finding.

How we label evidence

Wherever we show a fact about a provider, we intend it to carry one of these:

• Verified — we confirmed it against a primary source and recorded the source and date.
• Provider-reported — stated by the provider and not yet independently confirmed.
• Not available — we looked and could not establish it. We aim to show this honestly rather than leaving a blank that looks like an oversight.

Pricing

Prices are the advertised per-vial price we last recorded, each stamped with the date we captured it. An advertised vial price is not the same as program cost: it may exclude the consultation, labs, or shipping, or require a subscription or multi-month commitment. Always confirm the full cost on the provider's site. We never present a stale price as if it were live.

How fresh the data is

Every price and every regulation carries a captured or last-reviewed date, shown in plain language (“updated 3 days ago”) and flagged when it goes stale. We monitor key federal sources for changes and re-review affected records. We do not claim “real-time” pricing, because we do not yet collect prices in real time.

Legality: what our status means

Our legality data currently reflects the federal compounding framework — 503A and 503B rules and FDA shortage status — which sets the floor in every state. State-specific pharmacy-board guidance and telehealth-prescribing rules add further conditions and are being layered in state by state; we note them where we have them. Each status links to its source. This is informational, not legal advice.

Money, and our conflict-of-interest firewall

Some provider links are affiliate links, and providers can pay for a “Featured” placement, which is always labeled as paid. Here is the firewall:

• Paying us can never earn or influence a Verified badge.
• Affiliate or Featured status does not change a provider's ranking or rating; a non-paying provider can rank first.
• Affiliate compensation never changes the price you pay.

Corrections & challenges

If you are a provider and believe something we show is wrong or out of date, or a consumer who spotted an error, email hello@pepvetted.com with the specifics and any supporting evidence. We review submissions, correct verified errors, and keep a dated record of material changes so the history stays auditable.

What the badge does not mean

Pepvetted Verified confirms licensing and accreditation as of the review date. It is nota guarantee of product quality, safety, sterility, clinical appropriateness, or outcomes, and it can be revoked if a provider's standing changes. Always confirm suitability with a licensed clinician.
